About the calculatecalory.com: TDEE Calculator
What is TDEE?
TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure. It's the total number of calories your body burns each day through all activities, including:
- Basic life functions (breathing, pumping blood, etc.)
- Daily activities (walking, working, etc.)
- Structured exercise
- Food digestion
How We Calculate Your TDEE
Our calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, which is considered the most accurate formula for calculating BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). The formula is:
For men: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) + 5
For women: BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) - (5 × age in years) - 161
After calculating your BMR, we multiply it by an activity factor based on your lifestyle to determine your TDEE:
- • Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR × 1.2
- • Lightly active (1-3 days/week): BMR × 1.375
- • Moderately active (3-5 days/week): BMR × 1.55
- • Very active (6-7 days/week): BMR × 1.725
- • Extra active (very intense exercise/sports): BMR × 1.9
Using Your Results
Your TDEE can be used as a starting point for:
- Weight loss (eat less than your TDEE)
- Weight maintenance (eat at your TDEE)
- Weight gain (eat more than your TDEE)
Remember that these calculations provide estimates. Your actual needs may vary based on factors like genetics, medical conditions, and specific activities.
